Monday, 17th May 2004 (5782 views) Gemological laboratory EGL USA has formed a new council to discuss key issues facing the company and the industry as a whole.<BR/><BR/>Prompted by the growth of the lab industry in the last few years, the Strategic Policy Council consists of 14 leaders in the jewellery retail, supply and marketing sectors.<BR/><BR/>CEO Mark Gershburg explained: "As a major lab, we have a responsibility to help uphold consumer confidence. By working more closely together with all segments of the industry, we will be more effective and better prepared to face future problems."<BR/><BR/>Important issues recently discussed by the council were industry standards, consumer education and cooperation.<BR/><BR/>EGL provides fine jewellers and consumers with reliable and accurate gemstone ID and certification.<BR/><BR/>Among the new council are members such as MK Diamonds & Jewelry, Diamond International, Julius Klein Diamonds and Levinson Jewelers.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=2643824"/>
