Local and Gulf traders have all claimed that gold and jewellery is becoming increasingly popular in Kuwait.

Reportedly a key area of success for the sector is the fact that the area offers a number of limited edition or unique pieces that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.

Attending the second International Gold and Jewelry Exhibition, traders were in agreement that Kuwait has created a reputation for offering fashionable and stylish gold items and jewellery.

In addition Kuwaiti designers are seen to be at the height of the trade and always aware of the latest designs and technology, according to KUNA.

One trader explained that Kuwaiti people were much more demanding though and are very selective as to what they wish to purchase.

Around 33 tons of gold are purchased each year by Kuwaitis according to latest figures.
