Wednesday, 28th July 2004 (4662 views) Work at the Samira Hill gold mine by Canadian miner Etruscan Resources and Semafo is reportedly on schedule and on budget.<BR/><BR/>The firms have now revealed that the official opening ceremonies for the site in Niger, West Africa, are due for October 5.<BR/><BR/>At present gold reserves at the mine stand at 10,073,626 tonnes, with annual production set to be around 135,000 ounces for the first year.<BR/><BR/>Overall, the mine is hoped to produce an average 100,000 ounces of gold a year.<BR/><BR/>Following the now complete pre-stripping, plant and mechanical work at the site, the mine's first gold pour is set to occur in early September.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=3121521"/>
