Axmin has announced today that it has discovered a 7,500 metre long gold zone after soil sampling at the Pouloubou permit in the Central African Republic.

The gold occurs along a northeast trending structure and it is thought that the conditions around the site suggest the area is of the Archaean age.

CEO, Dr Jonathan Forster said: "The results from Pouloubou suggest the discovery by
AXMIN of a second major gold district in the Central African Republic.

"Clearly these previously unexplored greenstone belts share similar characteristics to the better known Archaean belts in the gold rich Kilo-Moto districts of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and with time could become significant gold producers."

The site offers a potentially major gold target, according to Axmin, since it has a good location, coincident structural controls, lies between the greenstone belt and a gold rich district and has a large anomaly for gold.

Axmin's wholly owned subsidiary was given an exclusive exploration permit for the site in March this year.

The firm is a mineral exploration company with a strong focus on gold in properties across central and West Africa.
