The conference formed part of the Indian Mining Summit 2004 and also recommended that knowledge sharing would take place and projects for joint operation should be looked into.

Mr Nogxima explained that the country is presenting exporting minerals to 97 countries and celebrating its ten years of democracy, had seen a substantial growth in the mining sector.

The country had just 87 mines in 1994, but now this amount has now increased considerably and includes 66 gold mines.
