Bulgarian officials prevent gold jewellery smugglingFriday, 26th November 2004 (4836 views) Customs officials in Bulgaria have managed to stop the smuggling of 20 kg of jewellery.According to the Sofia News Agency, police stopped smuggling at the Danube Bridge customs checkpoint on the border of Bulgaria and Romania. A total of 52 packets were discovered when checking a Turkish bus heading for Romania. The searches revealed bags full of jewellery, including 14kg of gold jewellery. Since the beginning of 2004, the customs officials at the Danube Bridge point have managed to confiscate 84kg of gold.
