Jewellery tells tale of Aztec Empire

Friday, 26th November 2004 (3480 views)

An exhibition revealing details of life in the Aztec empire is being held in the Guggenheim Museum, showcasing around 450 objects.

'The Aztec Empire' is running until February and includes a number of objects including gold jewellery and sculptures.

According to Science Monitor, the expo has over 40 rare gold objects and 35 per cent of the items have not been outside Mexico before.

One particular item of interest is a delicate necklace of gold teardrops and shells, which is being shown for the first time in the US.

Forty museums in Mexico City have specially loaned items for the exhibition.
