Performance still gold at Malaysian jeweller

Monday, 13th December 2004 (4803 views)

One of Malaysia's top gold jewellery companies Poh Kong Jewellers is continuing to perform well and helping to promote a positive image of the area's gold industry.

The firm has been running since 1976 and according to the Star Online, has helped to transform the industry in Malaysia.

Now the business is a public listed company and has 60 outlets, deemed the largest retailer of gold and gem-set jewellery in the country.

Executive director, Ermin Siow, said: "Poh Kong started a new concept in retailing of gold jewellery when it began to open showrooms in shopping complexes. It just caught on the trend of shopping in malls."

Among the innovative creations made at the jeweller, are the 'Tranz' trendy and elegant collection including bracelets, anklets, necklaces and earrings and top advertising.

According to Mr Siow, although competition is still strong the business has kept its customers by adopting a number of strategies such as branding jewellery products and making gold items based on branded merchandise.

Other innovative gold items include gold Disney pieces and its new Feng Shui jewellery range.
