Wednesday, 22nd December 2004 (4744 views)

Findings from an ancient cemetery on the Greek island of Thasos have revealed a host of items, including two gold rings and a pair of decorative earrings.

Dating back to the fourth century BC, the items include exquisite gold jewellery and pieces decorated with floral and marine images and pictures of the goddess Nike.

So far 150 artefacts have been discovered from the site at Limenas, with items found in a closely clustered set of graves.

In addition, gold necklaces and brooches were discovered, according to Kathimerini Online.
