Gold Expressions promotion to help Italian gold market

The World Gold Council's (WGC) Gold Expressions campaign is offering the Italian jewellery industry a chance to regain market strength.

The WGC and Vicenza Trade Fair representatives said on Monday that the ongoing promotion gives the industry a new avenue to capture consumers.

The campaign began in 2004 with a collection touring the United States, the Middle East, China and Italy. The multi-million dollar campaign gained excellent press coverage boosting the Italian market with new orders, expanded markets and new relationships with retailers.

"Gold Expressions (2004) inspired jewellery editors the world over, and is beginning to establish itself as the barometer for jewellery trends all over the world," said James Burton, WGC's chief executive.

He said that while the campaign has made progress it is still "a long way" from significantly boosting the struggling Italian jewellery industry.

Gold Expressions 2005 collection is currently being featured prominently at the entrance to the Vicenza Fair. It displays the wares of 69 Italian goldsmiths.
