Gold still favourite for Chinese weddings

Latest figures on weddings and jewellery purchases in China have shown that gold is still the precious metal of choice for brides and grooms.<br/><br/>Luxury jewellery purchases are increasing in the area due to increasingly affluent young people, with most keen to have the best, according to Reuters.<br/><br/>Although platinum is being recommended as an upcoming success in the wedding jewellery market, gold still proves popular since platinum's high price puts producers off.<br/><br/>Many companies continue to use white gold as the favourite metal of choice for wedding bands and various gifts.<br/><br/>As in other countries figures also suggest that increasing amounts of Chinese women are making jewellery purchases for themselves.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=7667716"/>
