Alan Ball, the Everton legend and World Cup winner, has revealed he is to auction off his 1966 gold winner's medal.<br/><br/>Money from the auction will go to his three grandchildren, with around £80,000 to £120,000 expected to be raised.<br/><br/>According to the football star, he decided to sell the medal after his wife Lesley died from cancer and his priorities changed.<br/><br/>"Winning the World Cup will stay with me forever, but it is time to look to the future, not the past," he said.<br/><br/>"I have three children and three grandchildren, and the most important thing for me is to make sure that they are looked after as well as possible."<br/><br/>He was just 21 and the youngest member of the team when he was presented with the medal, helping to beat West Germany at the World Cup Final and scoring 66 goals for Everton in a five year career.<br/><br/>The medal will be sold at Christie's in South Kensington, London, on May 19th.<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=8316329"/>
