Friday, 22nd April 2005 (4564 views) Ghana's asantehene has praised work by miner AngloGold Ashanti at a special reception held in his honour.<br/><br/>Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II told executives from the firm that he hoped schemes currently being carried out by AngloGold would boost the relevance of the company to the environment, employees, the community and Ghana.<br/><br/>He praised the firm on the major push it has given to the vale of gold and its youth programme that recently saw a Ghanaian jeweller hold a number of workshops for South African youths, according to GNA.<br/><br/>The asantehene is also set to visit the Mponeng Mine, the Gold Museum and a jewellery factory as part of a special ten-day programme with his delegation.<br/><br/>In the past the asantehene was a chief of the Asante people and ruled a semi-military government, Ghana still has an asantehene but for more of a symbolic role.<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=8332143"/>
