Gold teeth may have been around for centuries, but now the coolest kids in town are tapping in to the benefits of a sparkling smile.<br/><br/>In the US, gold is fast becoming the top choice for youngsters and adults undergoing specialised dental treatment.<br/><br/>According to the president of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), Terry Pracht, golden braces are providing a means by which patients can inject a sense of fun and fashion into a previously stigmatised form of treatment.<br/><br/>"One company markets them as jewellery for the mouth," Mr Pracht told SheKnows.com.<br/><br/>The concept could catch on in a big way, as the American trend for "bling" gains weight outside the US.<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=8546480"/>
