Friday, 20th May 2005 (4214 views) Wits Basin Precious Minerals has revealed its final processes are nearly complete at the Bates-Hunter Gold Mine exploration project.<br/><br/>Relevant machinery and permits have been obtained and gold potential appears high.<br/><br/>Mining engineer, Glenn O'Gorman, said: "We expect this pace to continue for the near term as we close in on the efforts needed to get into the exploration phase of this historic site."<br/><br/>Wits Basin CEO Vance White also claimed that the opportunity at the site shouldn't be underestimated and that the firm believes there could be up to another eight veins in the project with "great potential".<br/><br/>The Bates vein sparked the Colorado gold rush in the mid 1800s and it is thought up to nine principal veins are located in Wits Basin's current project.<br/><br/>In the past veins in the area produced around 750,000 ounces of gold.<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=8547361"/>
