Football chairman's jewellery up for auctionThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Tuesday, 24th May 2005 (6056 views) Around £20,000 worth of gold and silver jewellery has been put on display prior to an auction of a host of items belonging to the former chairman of Norwich City football club.

The auction which is set to take place next month will include a number of items, including a pair of 18-carat white gold cufflinks, each with diamond set initials.

Geoffrey Watling was known as Mr Norwich City after supporting it for years as chairman, vice-chairman and president and helping save it from financial oblivion.

It is thought total house contents will be in the region of £100,000 with proceeds going to the Geoffrey Watling Charity.

Fine art valuer and broker John Vost, who is arranging the auction through Horners in Acle, told Archant Regional: "You never really know with sales like this because of the interest in the man himself as well as the items. He was a celebrity in his own right so that alone will spark much more interest."

It is thought as well as usual collectors many buyers will also be there looking for a "memento" of Mr Watling.
