Wednesday, 29th June 2005 (4645 views) Gold producers in South Africa have submitted a wage increase offer for workers.<br/><br/>Producers including AngloGold Ashanti, Gold Fields and Harmony Gold have offered a 2.5 per cent pay increase through the Chamber of Mines.<br/><br/>However the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) have rejected the offer and described it as an "insult".<br/><br/>Other benefits offered would mean the total package would be equal to a 3.5 per cent wage increase.<br/><br/>The union criticised the offer since it had originally demanded a 20 per cent increase.<br/><br/>Formal negotiations will now resume on July 6th.<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=16050448"/>
