Robert Sarmast is absolutely certain that he has discovered the lost city of Atlantis that is rumoured to be filled with gold.<br/><br/>Mr Sarmast believes he has uncovered the location of the famed lost civilisation that Plato described some 80 kilometres from the Cyprus coast and 1,500 metres below sea level.<br/><br/>According to Plato, Atlantis was full of stunning buildings such as a highly ornamented palace and a temple full of elaborate gold statues.<br/><br/>The convinced explorer presented 3D sonar scans of structures he deems to be Atlantis to journalists.<br/><br/>Mr Sarmast has signed a contract with Total Media Group (TMC) which plans to make a two-hour special on his search for Atlantis.<br/><br/>Drew S Levin, documentary maker TMC's producer, said: "We are absolutely thrilled to be associated with what may in fact be the greatest archaeological discovery of modern times. All the indications are that Robert and his team of highly-credentialed researchers have indeed found the acropolis of the lost Atlantis."<br/><br/>Mr Sarmast published a book 'Discovery of Atlantis: the Startling Case for the Island of Cyprus' in 2003.<br/>
