Thursday, 29th September 2005 (8190 views) Arab designers of gold jewellery are encouraged to take part in the fourth Pan-Arab Gold Jewellery Design Contest known as Al Ibda'a Al-Hor and sponsored by the World Gold Council.Over the past three years, the contest has helped to raise awareness of Arab designs and designers on both a local and an international scale, reports AME Info. Also sponsoring the event will be L'Azurde, one of the largest manufacturers of gold and jewellery. The contest, described as the Oscar of gold jewellery design in the region, will give everyone an opportunity to compete at their own level, explained the WGC's Middle East director, Mr Moaz Barakat. He described it as a "unique platfrom for Arab designers to create stunning jewellery designs in 21-carat gold". Participants can enter their work in three categories: bridalwear jewellery, young and cool and Arabian essence. They have until December to submit their entries. The winning 30 designs will be made up in 21-carat gold, before further judging takes place. The first and second prize winners will receive pure gold medals and a certifcate. The event will be covered by Future TV, the magazine Zahrat Al Khaleej and the WGC, which is developing a special website.
