Friday, 30th September 2005 (6058 views) The World Gold Council (WGC) and Coca-Cola have launched a joint promotion in India, which will see 400 lucky consumers win an eight gram gold coin.To take part in the Coca-Cola Khara Sona competition Coca-Cola drinkers must text in a unique code, which they will find under their bottle cap. According to the company, a winner will then be selected every hour between October 1st and November 1st and receive a 24-carat gold coin. The text to win competition is the first of its kind in India and has been set up to coincide with the festival of Diwali. Commenting on the contest, Coca-Cola's vice president in India, Vikas Gupta, said: "We believe that the Coca-Cola Khara Sona innovation is all about giving Coca-Cola consumers another reason to celebrate this festive season. "Over the next 30 days, our consumers would not only have enough reason to drink their favourite soft drink but could also become proud owners of 24-carat gold coins." Sanjeev Agarwal, managing director of the WGC, also highlighted the importance of giving gold as a gift, particularly during the festive season, claiming that it symbolises long-term "durable" relationships that are based on trust and "enduring feelings". As such he believes that the WGC and Coca-Cola promotion "brings to the consumer a golden opportunity to express their feelings toward their loved ones".
