Yellow and pink gold are making an impact on the Indian scene.

Mast Jewellery Distributions (MD) has been outlining the latest trends in women's jewellery in the Deccan Herald and gold takes pride of place.

It attributes the fact that Indian consumers are becoming more savvy in their choice of jewellery to the continued influence of Western and Indian TV shows.

This season, as shown on the catwalks of New York, yellow gold is making a comeback and the resurgence of the precious metal is teamed with a desire for diamonds.

In India, pink gold is also proving popular, notably in designs that incorporate several shades of gold.

Another trend MD mentions is the Indian bride's penchant for extra jewellery sets that can be worn everyday and in semi-formal settings, in addition to a prized gold jewellery set for special occasions.

Other hot favourites to be seen wearing this season are coloured stones, coloured diamonds and pearls.
