Friday, 21st October 2005 (4413 views) China's central bank, the People's Bank of China (PBOC), is set to issue special gold commemorative coins.The coins are designed to mark the year 2006, which in the Chinese lunar calendar is the year of the dog. The PBOC will also be releasing panda-patterned silver coins The coins will be released in sets of twelve, coming with six in gold and six in silver. Two of the coins have the Great Wall of China on the back, while the other ten have a dog-shaped ancient Chinese bronze ware. Some silver coins have a picture of the Temple of Heaven, a historic building in Beijing with great cultural importance. Retail value of the coins varies enormously, from £4 to £700 each.
