International jewellery house D'damas has launched a new line to coincide with Diwali.

Its 18-carat gold and diamond collection is entitled Sampatti, which translates as prosperity in Sanskrit, and features four Diwali-based motifs.

Customers can choose from the rangoli, traditional decorations outside Indian houses; pan patta, betel leaves used during pooja; flowers, like the stars lighting Diwali; and diya, traditional oil lamps.

"It is considered auspicious to buy gold and diamond gifts during this season and the Damas Sampatti collection will add to the magical, radiant touch of the festivities," commented Damas' general manager of sales and marketing, Samit Bhatta.

The Diwali jewellery pieces are available from all D'damas outlets and have been launched with the endorsement of Indian actress Raima Sen.

Ms Sen is due to start work on the English film The Bong Connection with her sister Riya in January 2006.
