Mining firm Silverado has bolstered its holdings at the Nolan Gold Project in Fairbanks, USA.

The gold explorer, which operates a number of holdings in north Alaska, has boosted the number of federal placer claims it has by 13.
As well as this the firm has snared another 237 federal lode claims, meaning Silverado now boasts more than 11 square miles of claims.

Silverado said there is now "substantial evidence for a lode source of the big gold nuggets that the company has been finding in the sluice boxes for the past 27 years".

"The geochemical and geophysical data have supported that position," the company declared.

Silverado updated on the Nolan resource earlier this year, when it revealed that it had found more nuggets in the area.

The channel on which the firm is working is believed to be one on which the so-called 'old-timers' of the gold industry did not work.
