Keegan Resources has announced the results of its bedrock sampling programme at its Esaase Gold property in southwest Ghana.

Dan McCoy, the president of the Canadian company, said he was "excited and encouraged" by the results, which gave an indication that prospects for a solid deposit of gold in the region were good.

Results included a discovery of 45.8 grams of gold per tonne at one point along the quartz sheer vein were coupled with a five metre stretch of 2.9 g/t and a further ten metre length of 1.2 g/t in selected channel samples at the site.

"[These findings] indicate that we are focusing on the right areas," Mr McCoy said.

"We are also very pleased with the results of the adit sampling that has thus far been primarily focused in areas other than the strongest portions of the gold-in-soil anomaly.

"We are continuing to conduct our soil and rock sampling program…and are further looking forward to what trenching data will reveal within anomalous gold-in-soil areas," he concluded.
