Thursday, 25th January 2007 (5371 views) The challenges facing the gold jewellery industry are to be discussed at the forthcoming Dubai City of Gold Conference to be held from 22nd to 23rd April this year. The Park Hyatt at Dubai will be the scene of debate when the Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group (DGJG) meet the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) to focus on the opportunities and challenges facing the sector. Colin Griffith, the executive director of the DMCC, said: "The continued success of Dubai City of Gold Conference speaks for Dubai's significance in the global gold trade. "The conference has grown in scale and importance in the last few years and has helped to focus attention on some of the crucial issues facing the industry." He added that it also contributes to the development of the gold trade in and through Dubai. Over 350 delegates from a range of backgrounds including chief executive officers, bankers, industry leaders and representatives from the Dubai government will attend. The managing director of the DGJG says he expects a 15 per cent increase in jewellery sales this year.
