Galantas Gold Corporation, which is single-handedly trying to revive Ireland's gold mining industry, has given out some more results from its core drilling work at the Elkin and Kearney veins.

The gold mine is in Omagh in County Tyrone and is the nation's only gold mine. Six holes have been drilled on the Elkin vein so far over a 422 metre distance and the drill rig has since been moved to the Kearney vein.

Highlights of these holes include a 0.37 metre stretch with a grade of 14.36 grams of gold per tonne and 0.6 metres with a grade of 16.36 grams of gold per tonne.

MJ Lavigne, the vice president of Galantas, said: "It is rewarding to see poorly understood gold occurrences such as the Elkin blossom into something substantial."

Galantas has a 189 square kilometre remit for this project with the aim of increasing the resource base through exploration and mine development and to eventually sell more Galantas Irish gold jewellery.
