Friday, 23rd March 2007 (5159 views) A collection of world class jewellery and art works that will go under the hammer in the forthcoming months will, at the end of the month, be showcased by auctioneer Christie's at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel, Dubai.Although the items themselves will not be sold until April and May for the jewellery and art respectively, the Middle East will get a sneak preview of rare and luxurious items such as an Andy Warhol painting and Moroccan diamond inset gold jewellery dating back to the late 19th century. With a total estimated value of around AED 106 million (£14.7 million), the various pieces on offer are destined to whip up a lot of interest with another jewellery ensemble's key piece considered to be the gold eagle pendant that is adorned with precious stones and was created around 1694. Various other gold earrings and pendants will also be on show at the hotel and most are decorated with an array of gemstones such as rubies and emeralds. Speaking of the event, Michael Jeha, managing director of Christie's Dubai, explained to Al Bawaba news agency: "Exhibitions such as these enable UAE residents and visitors from around the Middle East to experience different categories of art and the Christie’s team of experts will be on hand to provide insight into all the objects on display."
