Tuesday, 22nd May 2007 (2902 views) Andina Minerals has reported grades form its latest project some 170 kilometres east of Copiapo in Chile. The Volcan gold project is located on the Maricunga gold belt and the firm drilled six holes on the north-east extension of the Doreado West zone gold deposit. It was encouraged to discover some of the longest intersections it had ever found at the project including one 668 metre length with grade of 0.81 grams of gold per tonne and a 238 metre interval with a grade of 1.36 grams of gold per tonne. Carl Hansen, the president of Andina Minerals, said: "We are very pleased with these drill results which firmly establish the upside potential of the Dorado West zone gold deposit. "Earlier drilling tested the margins of the West zone extension, the majority of these drill holes were collared to test of the core of the deposit returning significant intervals of higher grade gold mineralisation." He added that the West zone remains open along strike to the north-east and to depth and represents one of the firm's primary targets for continued resource growth on the Volcan property.
