Important information has been recovered on a number of high-grade gold zones at the Red Lake mining property in Ontario, according to Gold Eagle Mines.

Gold Eagle claims that the information was recovered by a series of wedge drill holes which, according to the mining company, continue to confirm the horizontal and vertical continuity of the high-grade gold zones.

Additionally, Gold Eagle notes that 63,000 metres of drilling has been completed at the Bruce Channel Discovery, which it claims is a "significant" gold structure beneath the Bruce Channel waterway.

The company notes that at least 25,000 metres of drilling has been planned for 2007.

Gold Eagle claims that Red Lake is the world's premier gold camp. Prospectors initially came to Red Lake in the 1870s before a gold rush hit the region in 1935.

Following the gold rush, eight mines were built in the area; the Mackenzie Red Lake, Red Lake Summit, Gold Shore, Gold Eagle, Hasaga, McMarmac, Madsen and the Couchenour-Willans.
