Tiffany 'top' for luxury goods

Thursday, 19th July 2007 (3084 views)

Retailer of gold and precious metal jewellery Tiffany has been named as most popular for made-to-order luxury goods in a survey of more than 100 brands, it has been revealed.

A report by the Luxury Institute reveals that the jeweller - behind such items as the 18-carat gold Lucida Tiffany cocktail watch - beat competition from fellow luxury item retailers Rolex and Lexus to take the top-spot for custom-made products.

The institute's 'Wealth Report' found that six per cent of wealthy Americans have purchased made-to-order items from the New York-based jeweller.

Luxury Institute notes that "wealthy" Americans are classed as having an average household income of $307,000 (£153,000) and an average net worth of $3.1 million.

In total, the survey showed that 56 percent of wealthy Americans buy their jewellery made-to-order, while jewellery is also the most popular made-to-order luxury category for gifts.

Also, the research shoes that women buy bespoke jewellery for personal use more frequently than they do for a gift while men are more likely to buy such jewellery as a gift.
