Yankee Hat summer work project commencesThursday, 30th August 2007 (2065 views) British Colombia-based mineral exploration company Yankee Hat has announced that its summer work project at the Fran gold project has begun. The firm has said the work comes on the back of a positive winter drilling programme focusing on the north contact zone, with the summer project designed to ascertain whether a potential porphyry system is contained at the Fran location. "Our exploration team is encouraged by the positive drill results we are getting from the north contact zone," said Brad Kitchen, president of Yankee Hat. He added that the firm is approaching the "latter stages of defining a significant new gold deposit at the north contact". Methods including induced polarisation, soil geochemical surveys, drill data compilation and deposit modelling will be used to determine whether a porphyry system does indeed exist. The Fran site is located 60km north of Fort St James in British Colombia, with the area known for its world-class deposits and mines, according to Yankee Hat. Yankee Hat is also currently exploring the Union Mine property in British Colombia, located 55km north of Grand Forks.
