Equipment purchased as mine nears gold productionTuesday, 30th October 2007 (1906 views) The purchase of a crushing plant has brought Columbia Metals a step closer to near-term commercial production at its past-producing Lluvia de Oro gold mine, the company has announced. In addition to the crusher, the company has also acquired several other items of heavy equipment, including a new tow jeep, a generator set, two conveyors and an electrical system for operating the equipment. Columbia Metals reported that metallurgical test work conducted on the site prior to April 1996 have indicated that given a nominal crush size of minus one inch, the new crusher could yield a gold recovery of 81 per cent. A gold-extracting production plant, which is to be financed, owned and operated by BioteQ Environmental Technologies, is set to be completed in the first quarter of 2008 and the first planned gold production at the mine is scheduled to follow shortly after. The Lluvia de Oro gold mine, part of the Lluvia-Jojoba project, is one of Columbia Metals' three properties in Mexico, which also include the Sierra Pinta gold mine and the PII Colorado exploration project.
