A diamond drilling programme totalling between 18 and 20 holes on the Mud Lake gold property is now underway, according to Wescan Goldfields.

The programme is set to test targets across the Mud Lake Shear Zone, including areas where 12 surface gold occurrences have previously been identified. It is also intended to provide follow-up exploration which discovered gold mineralisation in three previous drill holes on the site.

According to the company, the programme is a step in a long-term scheme which is set to use diamond drilling operations to systematically evaluate a number of targets on the Mud Lake property.

Wescan Goldfields estimates that the project will likely take up to four weeks to complete, with results scheduled for release in January 2008 following the Christmas holiday season.

Based in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, Wescan Goldfields is currently fulfilling an options agreement to acquire a 50 per cent interest in the Mud Lake prokect from Alto Ventures.
