New gold trend defined in NevadaThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Monday, 26th November 2007 (2616 views) The remaining results of a 22-hole Phase One drilling programme at the Long Canyon gold property have defined a new gold trend on the site, according to Fronteer Development Group.Called the West Zone, the new area of gold mineralisation was intersected over 300 metres and remains open in both north-east and south-west directions. "Long Canyon is an important component of Fronteer's global gold portfolio," said Robert Felder, Nevada exploration manager at the company. He added that the site may be one of the most significant gold discoveries made in the state in recent years. "Despite its relatively early stage, Long Canyon shows excellent size and grade potential with near-surface oxide gold over significant widths," he said. With the conclusion of the Phase One programme on the site, a Phase Two drilling operation is now underway, aiming to extend areas of known mineralisation to the north-east of the current discoveries on the site. A discovery-stage exploration company, Fronteer Development Group claims to use a scientific approach called the Sweet Spot to strategically plan its mining operations.
