New drilling results from the La Dura West discovery zone in Mexico have yielded the highest gold grades to date, according to West Timmins Mining.

The company reported that a drill hole on the site - which is situated on the Montana de Oro mining project - intersected a stretch of 31.16 metres of mineralisation with a gold grade of 0.80 grams of gold per tonne at 44 metres below surface levels.

Darin Wagner, president and chief executive officer of West Timmins Mining, said that the thickness and grade of the recent discovery of mineralisation will warrant a "significantly expanded drill programme" on the La Dura West zone.

"When combined with the shallow depths and high value of the metal basket we are very excited by the potential for this discovery," he added.

West Timmins Mining is currently developing projects in two North American gold camps – the Timmins gold camp in northern Ontario, Canada and an operation in the Sierra Madre gold belt in Mexico.
