Deep drilling reveals high-grade gold in MexicoThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Thursday, 24th January 2008 (4212 views) High-grade gold has been discovered in the deepest mineralisation drilled to date at the La Arista deposit in Mexico, Gold Resource has announced. The company said recent deep drilling at the site had intersected mineralisation at 50 metres below the previously recorded level, with vein widths of two metres, five metres and eight metres. Mineralisation at La Arista, which is part of Gold Resource's El Aguila project in Oaxaca, Mexico, has now been discovered from the 900 metre surface elevation down to the 600 metre elevation. Not all assays from the latest drilling have been returned yet but the company says preliminary reports show "excellent" mineralisation, even near the hole's deepest point. Gold Resource's president, William W Reid, said: "We are pleased to see this La Arista mineralisation continuing strong at depth, especially the vein widths of five metres and eight metres." The El Aguila project, located around 75 miles from Oaxaca's capital city, is a newly-discovered deposit that has already yielded 11 high-grade gold intercepts, including veins of up to 16 metres.
