Exploration permit awarded to Luna GoldWednesday, 27th February 2008 (1855 views) Mineral exploration and development company Luna Gold has been awarded permission to explore a large area of the Aurizona gold belt in Brazil.Consent was granted for Luna to explore 47,000 hectares of land in the gold belt by the Brazilian Mines Department. Located to the south and west of the Sao Luis craton's Piaba deposit, the landhold has been the base for numerous historic gold explorations. "Luna Gold now controls a total of 70,000 hectares in the region ... the granting of these areas provides the company with control over a prospective gold province in an area of excellent infrastructure which has seen minimal modern-day exploration," commented Tim Searcy, chief executive officer of Luna Gold. Notable previous gold values returned from rock grab samples at the Piaba deposit include 159.91 g/t gold at Iricuri Garimpo, 18.77 g/t gold at Areal Garimpo and 76.35 g/t gold at Limao Garimpo. Luna Gold is an exploration and development company which focuses on the acquisition, exploration and development of gold yielding properties.
