"Excellent" gold intercepts are among the returns from two additional holes drilled at the San Miguel project in the Guazapares mining district of Mexico, the company carrying out the work has said.

Tara Gold Resources said one of the holes, designated SM-20, returned intersections graded at 1.23 g/t gold over 2.65 metres and 2.41 g/t gold over 6.26 metres.

The intercepts extend the southern boundary of the high-grade ore body known as Clavo 99 by 50 metres in length and to a total minimum width of 350 metres, the company added.

Clavo 99, it added, has now returned mineralisation for up to 200 metres down dip - and remains open both down dip and to the north.

Paramount Gold Mining, Tara's joint venture partner at San Miguel, said the results were a "pleasant surprise" that suggest Clavo 99 may be larger than previously thought.

Drilling at the site will continue, Tara said, with the intention of extending Clavo 99 along strike to the north.

San Miguel is located in Chihuahua, northern Mexico and forms part of the Temoris gold and silver belt of the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains.
