Royal Standard hits gold in Nevada

Tuesday, 18th March 2008 (2711 views)

Results from the first core drill hole to be completed at the Dixie-Comstock gold and silver property in Nevada have been released by exploration firm Royal Standard Minerals.

The company said the drilling is designed to target the largely unexplored south-west extension of the site's epithermal gold and silver system.

Results from the first hole include intersections of 22.48 g/t gold over 1.52 metres, 12 g/t gold over a width of 3.04 metres and 7.99 g/t gold over 1.52 metres.

Additional intercepts included 4.47 g/t gold over 12.1 metres, 3.42 g/t gold over 1.52 metres and 3.14 g/t gold over 1.52 metres.

Further assay results are expected shortly from the hole, while work on another two core drill holes is underway, the company said.

Royal Standard added that good results from these holes could "significantly increase" the gold potential of the property.

Previous drilling in some parts of the Dixie-Comstock property identified a near-surface system with a tested strike length of over 335 metres and a width of some 182.88 metres. The company said that drilling could potentially expand this system along strike, while better defining current resources.

Royal Standard currently operates four other properties in Nevada, including the Goldwedge, Como and Fondaway projects.
