Goldbelt announces "good drill results" in Burkina Faso

Monday, 31st March 2008 (1163 views)

Reverse circulation drilling at the Kari Nord property in south-west Burkina Faso has returned high-grade gold values over a potential strike length of 1,200 metres, according to the company developing the site.

Goldbelt Resources said a total of 27 holes have been drilled to date in two zones.

Highlights of the returns from these holes include 4.15 g/t gold over 29 metres, 6.06 g/t gold over ten metres and 2.34 g/t gold over 19 metres.

Other intercepts include 38 metres graded at 2.40 g/t gold, 24 metres grading 1.07 g/t gold and 1.50 g/t gold over eight metres.

All of these intercepts were made in the property's Vindaloo prospect, the company said. The zone has been defined by drilling over 300 metres and remains open on strike in both directions and at depth.

Preliminary auger gold geochemistry for this area shows a potential strike length of 1,200 metres, it added.

Michael Gareau of Wega Mining ASA, which owns a 93 per cent stake in Goldbelt, said the drilling results indicated a large, connected gold system.

"We look forward to our next drilling campaign as a step towards evaluating the resource potential of this system," he commented.

Goldbelt is currently developing gold projects in three areas in Burkina Faso - Belahouro, Hounde and Bougouriba.
