Drilling underway in northern Ontario

Tuesday, 22nd April 2008 (565 views)

Work is underway on an 8,000-metre diamond drilling programme on the Brookbank gold deposit in the Beardmore-Geraldton area of northern Ontario, it has been confirmed.

Ontex Resources announced that the first hole being drilled will target the deposit at a depth of around 400 metres.

The work follows the completion of a National Instrument 43-101 compliant mineral resource estimate for the property in April, the company added.

Figures from his report put the indicated resources of the deposit's main zones - Brookbank, Cherbourg, Foxear and Irwin - at 1.62 million tonnes grading at an average of 7.1 g/t gold for a total of 372,900 ounces of contained gold.

Furthermore, the property's inferred resources were put at 1.62 million tonnes graded at 6.2 g/t gold for 321,800 ounces of gold.

In total, the Brookbank deposit's resources are estimated at 694,700 ounces of gold contained in 3.24 million tonnes graded at 6.6 g/t gold.

In addition to the Brookbank property, Ontex Resources also has a number of other operations in Canada, including the Deloro property near Timmins, Ontario and the Bartec property in the Val D'Or region of Quebec.
