High-grade gold strike at Caballo Blanco

Wednesday, 23rd April 2008 (906 views)

Core drilling at the Caballo Blanco project in Mexico has returned gold intercepts graded at up to 2.09 g/t gold over 94.49 metres, the company behind the development has announced.

Almaden Minerals said the results come from holes completed by its development partner Canadian Gold Hunter on the Cerro la Paila gold target.

Other intersections returned from the work include grades of 3.93 g/t gold over 39.62 metres, 0.53 g/t gold over 131.06 metres, 1.08 g/t gold over 24.38 metres and 0.79 g/t gold over 53.34 metres.

Almaden chairman JD Poliquin said the company was "very pleased" with the results of the work and he was "very encouraged" by the intercepts encountered to date.

"We look forward to the results to come from the aggressive drill program now underway," he added.

The Caballo Blanco project covers around 15,000 hectares in the state of Veracruz on the Gulf of Mexico. It is located around 75 kilometres north-west of the city of Veracruz.
