Monday, 19th May 2008 (1350 views) Sino Gold has is to make a donation of essential equipment to the earthquake relief fund in China to benefit those affected in the recent earthquake.The firm will donate around $100,000 (£51,000) in essential equipment to the fund, Associated Press reports, including 200 sets of hand torches, 70 megaphones and 70 portable gas power generators. Equipment will be sent to Chengdu by chartered plane, which will also carry an emergency rescue team made up of the company's employees. Jake Klein, chief executive of Sino Gold, said: "This disaster has deeply shocked Sino Gold's 1,600 employees and contractors in China and Australia. "We are fortunate to be in a position to contribute to the earthquake relief effort both financially and through our employees' expertise." He added that while the scale of the damage is as yet difficult to imagine, it has aimed to provide help in the most beneficial way possible. Sino Mining Limited was formed in June 2000 as a result of a demerger of Sino Mining Internaitonal's gold and aluminium interests and was renamed Sino Gold Limited in October 2002.
