Friday, 27th June 2008 (1028 views)

The 2008 Miss Universe crown has been created by a Vietnamese company in preparation for the competition in July.

The crown has been valued at $120,000 and is made of 18-karat white and yellow gold.

It was designed by Dang Thi Kim Lien of CAO Fine Jewellery and Rosalina Tran Lydster of Jewelry by Rosalina.

In addition to the gold, the crown will bear over 1,000 precious stones including diamonds and crystals.

According to NDTVMovies the yellow of the gold is symbolic of the "prosperous thriving" Vietnamese economy.

Designers Kim Lien and Rosalina Lydster said: "The curved design creates a natural rhythm and a stable structure for the crown, symbolising the spirit of unity.

The crown combines the beauty and the character of each nation, accomplishing the goal of the pageant."

Spice Girl Mel B and Jerry Springer are set to host the 2008 competition which is being held in Vietnam.
