The National Bank of Georgia sets aside gold coins for Olympic championsFriday, 25th July 2008 (627 views) A presentation of 1,000 gold and 1,500 silver coins, which were minted at the Dutch Royal mint, took place at the Georgian Olympic museum this week, according to a report on finchannel.com.The presentation was attended by president of the Georgian Olympic committee Gogi Topadze, acting president of the National Bank of Georgia and members of the national Olympic team. Mr Amaglobeli promised any athletes who emerged victorious from this year's Olympic Games in Beijing would be presented with one of the gold coins. He said: "I believe Georgian sportsmen will once again fame our country and will return home decorated with medals." The coins are to be made available worldwide. Mr Amaglobeli said he believed the coins would raise awareness of Georgia's strong Olympic traditions. In other news, earlier this week, gold jewellery designer Dhyan Sherri announced she would be exhibiting her collection which was inspired by the ancient Egyptians.
