Miranda Gold begins Horse Mountain drillingTuesday, 19th August 2008 (435 views) Drilling has begun at Miranda Gold Corp's Horse Mountain project in Nevada.Funding partner Newcrest Resources Inc announced the start of the operation, in which there are 13 drill sites with anticipated drilling of up to 20,000 ft (6,096 m). The programme is intended to test structural and gold/arsenic soil geochemical targets, looking for higher-grade gold zones. Additional drilling will test soil geochemical anomalies. The Horse Mountain project, which is disseminated and sediment-hosted, has 139 claims in a zone of two square miles. President and chief executive officer of Miranda, Ken Cunningham, said the area "deserves to be thoroughly drill tested" and expressed his confidence that Newcrest would do an "excellent job". Earlier this month, Miranda began drilling at its Coal Canyon project, also in Nevada. This was under an exploration funding agreement with Queensgate Resources Corporation and is testing for gold mineralisation in the Roberts Mountains and Hanson Creek Formations.
