Singapore International Jewellery Show opens todayThursday, 21st August 2008 (1067 views) The minister of state for trade and industry in Singapore, Lee Yi Shyan, has officially opened the fourth Singapore International Jewellery Show.According to asiaone, over S$100 million (£37.9 million) worth of jewellery and fine art will be on display for the exhibition at which some 30 different suppliers, retailers and manufacturers will feature. One of the highlights of the show, asiaone said, will be the Riqueza white gold piece from Lee Hwa Jewellery which represents abundance and wealth. In addition, for the first time the jewellery exhibition will feature oil paintings from Parisian artist Thomas Diego Armonia as part of its Jewels in Art theme. Armonia's paintings are typically that of women's faces painted in black and white. For the Singapore show, a series of custom-made portraits from the artist have been commissioned - each of which have been embellished with real gold. The images will make their debut at the international event, according to 88DB.
