South Mountain exploration to beginFriday, 19th September 2008 (397 views) Thunder Mountain Resources has revealed that new exploration can now begin for its South Mountain programme in Idaho after extensive work on a previously inaccessible area.The firm stated that the underground Sonneman Level section of the project has been "totally rehabilitated". Warner Construction were contracted to conduct the work and carried out an excavation in order to clear caved-in areas of the site. They also installed timbering and concrete box culverts along a section of 50ft to support the entrance. An appraisal of the passageway is expected to be completed over the coming months after the timber and ventilation system requirements have been evaluated. President of Thunder Mountain Gold Jim Collord commented: "We are pleased to initiate this important phase of exploration with the goal to expand the South Mountain poly metallic resource." In other news, Freegold Ventures has begun shipping gold concentrates from its Golden Summit project to a metals refinery in Kellogg, Idaho.
