Results from Espanola gold mineThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Wednesday, 24th September 2008 (1101 views) Metallum Resources, formerly known as Young-Shannon Gold Mines, has reported assay results of up to 24.69 g/t from its McMillan gold mine in Espanola, north Ontario.Further exploration of a gold zone discovered April 2006 was "of particular interest" to the company as it had historically provided results of 7.21 g/t gold over 21.3 metres. Significant figures from the new campaign included 4.18 g/t gold over 11.3 metres including sections of 6.90 g/t gold over 5.45 metres, five g/t gold over 2.05 metres and the highest grade of 24.69 g/t over 0.35 metres. The firm feels that the new values could indicate an extension of the historic gold zone. This assertion will continue to be evaluated as future drilling is completed. Meanwhile, Detour Gold - which focuses most of its exploration in northern Ontario - has appointed Paul Martin as chief financial officer. Chief executive Gerald Panneton said: "We are extremely delighted to have attracted management of Paul's calibre."
